Overview

TRON is a Layer 1 blockchain built around high-throughput stablecoin settlement. In Q3 2026, it remained the dominant rail for USDT transfers, with $2.21 trillion in stablecoin settlement for the quarter, up 5.1% from Q2, and cumulative transaction volume that passed $30 trillion as of 23 September.

Onchain activity on TRON was steady throughout Q3. Nansen counts averaged roughly 11.7 million successful daily transactions and 3.7 million daily active addresses. Transaction counts peaked on 1 July and bottomed on 23 August. Labeled exchange activity remained concentrated in a small set of centralized exchanges (CEXs), with OKX and Binance among the largest by users and transactions, reinforcing TRON's role in exchange-linked settlement activity and broader ecosystem usage.

The quarter's most visible institutional development was the launch of the first U.S. spot staked TRX exchange-traded fund (ETF), Canary Staked TRX ETF (TRXS), on September 9, 2026. Anchorage Digital also added native TRX staking and TRC-20 custody during the quarter.

Key Developments: Q3 2026

Settlement Volume and Network Scale

Stablecoin settlement was at $2.2126 trillion for the quarter, up 5.1% from $2.106 trillion in Q2. Average daily settlement reached $24.05 billion, up 3.9% from $23.14 billion, while cumulative transaction volume surpassed $30 trillion as of September 23rd.

Stablecoin Supply and Liquidity

USDT and USDD supply on TRON reached $93.88 billion at quarter end, up 5.5% (about $4.88 billion) from Q2 and up 14.9% from Q3 2025. Total value locked including staking was $28.21 billion, up 0.2% quarter over quarter, and DeFi total value locked excluding staking was $13.05 billion. TVL growth slowed compared with Q2, when TRON DAO reported 8.3% growth.

Users and Fees

User base on TRON continues to steadily grow, with an average rolling monthly active addresses of 18 million in Q3, up 9.8% from 16.4 million in Q2. Network fees totaled $701.4 million in Q3 (July $234.6 million, August $231.3 million, September $235.5 million), an average of $7.62 million per day, down 4.0% from $7.94 million in Q2.

Institutional Access: TRXS ETF

Canary Capital launched the Canary Staked TRX ETF (TRXS) on 9 September 2026. The fund gives exposure to the spot price of TRX, with net staking rewards from TRON's delegated proof-of-stake validation reflected in its net asset value. TRON DAO's team rang the Cboe closing bell in Chicago on 29 September 2026 to mark the debut.

Custody and Staking Integrations

Anchorage Digital expanded its TRON support during the quarter with native TRX staking and custody for TRC-20 assets, the second phase of an integration that began with custody.

Notably, MEXC's user count rose by about 81% quarter over quarter.

Closing Thoughts

TRON's Q3 2026 picture is one of scale and a consistent user base. Settlement volume rose modestly, stablecoin supply reached $93.88 billion, and TRON DAO's monthly active address measure grew 9.8%.

The more notable developments were institutionally focused: TRXS gave U.S. investors exchange-traded exposure to TRX, with potential net staking rewards reflected in the fund’s NAV. Anchorage's native staking and TRC-20 custody also expanded the institutional infrastructure available for holding and staking TRON assets. Those are the kinds of access changes that can matter for demand more broadly. TRON is well positioned for continued expansion and growth into Q4 and beyond.
